COVID-19 : FG takes delivery of m Saudi donated equipment –director

The federal government has received medical supplies worth $ 1 million donated by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, according to Mr. Olusegun Adetola, director of media and public relations at the Ministry of Health.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Adetola said the handover ceremony took place at the Saudi Arabian embassy.

Represented on the occasion by Alhaji Abdulazeez Abdullahi, the permanent secretary of the ministry, the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said the equipment would help combat the ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Ehanire thanked the kingdom for their donation of 23 ventilators along with other items such as: sterile surgical gowns, non-sterile surgical gowns, surgical mask, nitrite gloves.

He reiterated the government’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic until it is fully eradicated, while acknowledging the Kingdom’s continued contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s health sector, through the Help Center and humanitarian relief from King Salman.

The minister also appreciated the kingdom’s considerable efforts in the fight against blindness, cataracts and glaucoma, among other weaknesses and visual disturbances in Nigeria.

Ehanire expressed the government’s willingness to positively use donated medical equipment and its distribution to various medical centers, while noting the kingdom’s role as a key partner in global health and development.

In his speech, the kingdom’s ambassador, Mr. Faisal Al-Ghamdi, highlighted his country’s plans to organize 12 voluntary medical campaigns to fight blindness, undertake heart and cataract surgeries, in the six zones. geopolitics of Nigeria.

He also mentioned various humanitarian aid provided by the kingdom to displaced people in the northeast, in addition to the distribution of food baskets worth $ 10 million to families in Borno, Yobe and Zamfara states. (NAA)
