COVID-19 death toll in Netherlands rises to 5,590
The Netherlands has recorded a total of 5,590 coronavirus deaths after reporting 28 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) announced on Thursday.
The number of people tested positive grew by 270, taking the total tally to 43,481, while that of people who are or were admitted to hospital increased by 27 to a total of 11,457.
“The figures are in line with the impression that the measures are working,” said the RIVM.
The coronavirus figures in The Netherlands continued to show a downward trend in May. The last time that the country reported a daily new deaths of over 100 was on April 29 (145), while the daily new positive cases of above 500 were last seen on April 30 (514).
