As part of efforts at curbing spread of the Corona virus (COVID-19), the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, Lagos, says it has put necessary measures in place to prevent inmates form contracting the disease.
Check by the Nigeria News Agency , at the centre on Saturday revealed that senior officers and mandatory visitors were required to wash and sanitise their hands properly before accessing the facility.
The visitors and officers were further made to undergo checks with Clinical Thermometer to ensure they have normal body temperature before entering the centre.
The Deputy Controller in Charge of the Centre, Mr Ayoola Opadeji, said: “This check will enhance prompt detection of any infection, especially, the COVID-19 virus.
Opadeji also disclosed that the inmates had been sensitised on symptoms of COVID-19 and other information to prevent its spread.
According to him, it would be s serious catastrophe if such measures were not taken as the number of inmates at the center is above 3,000.
“This is a major reason we have to take all the necessary precautions,” Opadeji explained.
