Corps members serving in Oyo State, on Thursday, distributed face masks and hand sanitiser to residents of some local governments in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the beneficiaries of the corps members’ gesture were those residing in Ibadan North, Ibadan South, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Ibarapa council areas of the state.
The NYSC Coordinator in Oyo State, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, told NAN in Ibadan that aside distributing the items, the corps members also enlightened the residents on how contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ogbuogebe said that over 2,000 face masks and hand sanitiser, produced by the corps members, were distributed to the people.
She said that the corps members had earlier presented similar items to the state government, as part of their contributions to the fight against coronavirus.
“Recently, we also inaugurated a semi-automated water device at the NYSC secretariat in Iseyin for the use of the people living with the area.
“It is our prayer that God intervenes and puts an end to the deadly virus in Nigeria and all over the world,” she said.
The coordinator urged people to adhere strictly to the rules of hygiene and follow all the guidelines provided by health professionals to contain the spread of the virus.
