The Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has joined other faith-based organisations in supporting the Federal Government in the fight against COVID-19 by donating some food items to the Presidential Task Force (PTF).
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the items were received on behalf of the Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, by the National Coordinator, Sani Aliyu, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mustapha thanked Ansar-ud-Deen Society for coming to the aid of the PTF by making such donation in the aid of the poor and vulnerable in the country.
The SGF commeded the high compliance level of members of the society to the ban on mass gathering in form of worship in mosques and adherence to the social/ physical distancing policy on COVID-19.
He said that faith-based organisations had continued to lend their support to the activities of PTF, adding that such support was what was required to curtail the pandemic.
He urged other organisations to follow the worthy example of the Ansar-ud-Deen Society.
Mustapha said that organisations like the Ansar-ud-Deen Society had continued to provide platforms for a strong united common voice in the struggle to curtail COVID-19 in the country.
Earlier, the Deputy National Chairman of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Dr Yusuf Ibrahim, commended the efforts of the Federal Government in establishing the PTF to combat COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Ibrahim assured the PTF of the solidarity of his society and its support and efforts aimed at protecting lives and property in the country by working hard to overcome the rampaging COVID-19
He pledged to continue to support the government in its activities which were citizen-centred and thus provide platform for advocacy, compliance and feedback for Muslims in Nigeria.
NAN reports that the Food items donated to the PTF included cartons of noodles and some bags of rice worth millions of naira.
