Court remands unemployed man for alleged armed robbery
NNN: An unemployed man, Oladimeji Yusuf, who allegedly stole Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and a mobile phone from a pedestrian, while armed with a broken bottle, was arraigned on Monday.

Yusuf, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial before a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square.

He is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

The prosecution counsel, Mrs Adenike Oluwafemi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 10, 2020, at 2.00 a.m., at Ogado Street, Federal Science and Technology College, Lagos.
Oluwafemi said that the defendant while armed with a broken bottle accosted a pedestrian, one Sanusi Ahmed, and robbed him of his mobile phone and ATM card.
According to her, the offences contravene Sections 297 and 299 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Oluwafemi prayed the court for a trial date.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya, however, remanded him to a correctional centre and adjourned the case until June 28 for trial.
