A Grade 1 Area Court Nyaya, Mpape Abuja, on Tuesday ordered the remand of two security guards, docked for alleged negligent conduct.
The defendants: Idagu Godgift, 24, of Mararaba, Nasarawa State, and Atum Hangeni, 27, of Kabusa Abuja, were charged with negligent conduct, offence they denied committing.
The judge, Abdullahi Ogedemgbe, ordered their remand in prison and adjourned the case until June 20, for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Noel Omeje, told the court that one Rajiel Mekkat, of Wuse ll, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station, Abuja on May 10.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendants, both employees of Fesco Security Services, Abuja, were deployed as security guards to secure the complainant’s compound.
He told the court that the defendants allegedly abandoned their duty post, while hoodlums gained access into the compound and stole a television set, mobile phones and other items, all valued at N3.1 million.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 196 of the Penal Code.
