Lagos, Nigeria – Na wetin we dey hear today? E be like say dem don finally catch Major General Umar Mohammed with serious gbege wey pass ordinary! The Federal High Court for Lagos don order say make dem permanently seize 245,568,137 shares wey cost pass N5 billion. This plenty shares na for account of the former Group Managing Director of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL) and one kontri businessman, Kayode Filani. Na serious matter o!
Justice Dehinde Dipeolu na the judge wey give this ruling on Tuesday, after dem present dem case from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Dem talk say this shares na from illegal money wey Maj. Gen. Mohammed take gree chop while him dey run the Army’s property company. Wetin we sabi, no be small gbege!
The EFCC lawyer, Hanatu Kofanaisa, yarn for court say dem don already gree sentence Mohammed on 14 out of 18 counts wey involve stealing and other wahala. E don make sense say, she don seal the deal for jah-jah court with all the paper work them own, and since nobody don show face to object am, the final order fit waka enter!
Justice Dipeolu talk say, “As I don see all the documents wey you bring, and since pose no objection, na so I go gree this request.” Dis matter no be joke, sha! The shares wey dem don seize include serious big players like Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Conoil Plc, and my personal fave, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc (hope say dem no go touch my sugar!).
According to the EFCC, Na different stories dey behind the indices of this case wey dem don investigate. Mohammed no just sell Army properties anyhow, but e manage to collect money wey dem use buy shares for various companies, make it look like the cash dey come from legit side. Na so dem take set trap for am!
The judge base im ruling on Section 44(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution along with Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act wey dey shine light on how dem go handle matters like this. No be small for court! White finally took off mucket! E be like say dis case fit just be the beginning of serious action.
As EFCC dey dig deep, we dey hope say dem go fit catch more tight ends around this matter. Wetin you go talk about this one? Na just wahala wey don land for some people and we dey watch how e go unfold. Y’all better keep your eyes dey ground, cause the saga don just start!
