Coronavirus – Kenya: COVID-19 update (April 9, 2021)

1,091 people have tested positive for the disease, out of a sample of 7,300 people. Our positivity rate is 14.9%. The total number of confirmed positive cases is now 144,154. The cumulative tests to date are 1,549,388.

RECOVERIES:

* 533 patients recovered, 297 from health facilities and 236 from home care and isolation.
* Total recoveries now stand at 98,183.

DEATHS:

* 17 deaths were reported within 24 hours, all of which occurred within the past month.
* The total number of deaths is now 2,309.

* 0-9 years (0),
* 10-19 years (0),
* 20-29 (0) or
* 30-39 years (3),
* 40-49 years (1),
* 50-59 years (2),
* 60 years and over (11).

Cumulative deaths by age;

* 0-9 years (45),
* 10-19 years (17),
* 20-29 (94) or
* 30-39 years old (208),
* 40-49 years (323),
* 50-59 years (522),
* 60 years and over (1100).

Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones.

ADMISSIONS:

* 1605 patients are admitted to various health establishments across the country
* 4,233 patients are in isolation and home care.
* 236 patients are in intensive care, 45 in ventilatory assistance and 159 in supplemental oxygen.
* 32 patients are under observation.
* 259 patients receive supplemental oxygen separately, including 246 in general wards and 13 in high dependency units.

VACCINATION:

As of April 8, 422,021 people had been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine:
* 110,523 are health workers, * 34,150 security officers, * 59,906 teachers and
* 217,442 are other members of the public, including people aged 58 and over.

Kind:

* 238,522 (56.5%) are men and * 183,499 (43.5%) are women.
