LUSAKA, Zambia, January 10, 2022 / APO Group / –
On December 28, HE Mr. MIZUUCHI Ryuta, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Zambia, and Ms. KANEMATSU Yui, Program Coordinator of the AAR Japan Meheba Office, signed a grant contract worth $ 461,581 Americans for the implementation of the program entitled “Support for Livelihood Activities through Agriculture in the Meheba Local Integration Area (Phase 2)” under the Japanese NGO Project Assistance Grant. The Honorable Honorable Mr. Jacob Jack Mwiimbu, Minister of the Interior, representing the Honorable Member, Mrs. Mutale WK Nalumango, Vice President, attended the signing as Guest of Honor.
Through this project, AAR Japan will encourage 11 self-help groups made up of 463 households 1) providing farm equipment and household management skills, 2) providing cash-rich seedlings and agricultural knowledge, and 3) promoting joint transportation and expansion of sales channels. Additionally, in collaboration with Community Road Empowerment (CORE), a Japanese non-profit organization, AAR Japan will work with target auto groups to pave rough roads to the nearby market to facilitate a smooth joint transportation system in the community.
This AAR Japan project is expected to revitalize the agricultural activities of the target farmers and increase their cash income, which will lead to the promotion of their self-sustainable livelihoods.
