The programme which is ongoing in Lagos, Enugu and Rivers is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Government and FSD.

Foltz said the consulate in partnership with the academy, a vocational technical and entrepreneurship academy, was holding the training for 30 emerging entrepreneurs aged between 22 and 35 in each of the states.

“We are doing the training for Nigerians because we understand that young Nigerians need to be trained in skills and also to strengthen the relationship between us and Nigeria,” she said.

Foltz further said the programme was designed to foster entrepreneurial know-how as well as encourage new thinking in the fields of fashion design, consumer trends and business development.

According to her, it also aimed to encourage marketing, branding and provide opportunities to network with established industry players, alumni of U.S. government exchange programmes and mentors.

Speaking earlier, Mrs Omowale Ogunrinde, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Skills and Dreams VTE Academy, lauded the U.S. consulate for training the beneficiaries on skills to scale up and sustain their businesses.

Ogunrinde said that the training would give them a global perspective of how to mentor, network and grow their businesses to succeed.
