We’ll consolidate on past BFN board’s achievements, says Orbih

By Victor Okoye

Francis Orbih, the new chairman of the Nigeria Badminton Federation (BFN) goalkeeper committee, said the committee would build on the right foundation laid by the previous board.

Orbih, who is also the outgoing chairman of the BFN, told the Nigeria News Agency in Abuja on Friday that the purpose and objective of the newly inaugurated interim committee would be to consolidate the achievements of the board.

“We have been inaugurated and I can tell you that we have the best crop of board members you can imagine anywhere in the country.

“So we’re going to go on and work as a full board to make sure we continue the good job the old board did before stepping down.

“Basically it’s about consolidating and building on a very solid foundation that has been laid over the past four years. That’s what we’re going to focus on, ”he said.

Regarding the work schedule of the Guardians Committee, the Orbih said that due to pending issues in the courts, it was difficult to determine the mandate of the committee.

“We have no control over the timing of our work as an interim committee because we have a case pending in court.

“So once this is resolved, I am sure we will continue and proceed immediately with our election to inaugurate a new board of directors.

“For now, our goal is to do the job of a goalkeeper committee, which is to make sure the game of badminton in Nigeria doesn’t suffer and to make sure that we don’t lose any of the winnings. last years.

“We had a calendar in the last board of directors and so we will study it and see which ones we can continue with and which ones we can run before the end of the year,” he said. he declares.

Orbih revealed that the committee held an inaugural meeting immediately after the inauguration and decided to start planning solidly for next year.

“So very soon we will be rolling out a schedule for next year, which we will pursue vigorously to ensure that we are able to accomplish as much as possible within that schedule.

“For the activities for the rest of the year, we’ll see what we can do.

“Unfortunately I have to say that due to the persistent problem we had to withdraw from All Africa Seniors in Uganda which started this week and this will negatively affect our players, especially in their world rankings,” he said. -he declares.

He also said that the sixth edition of Lagos International which was due to be held early next month had been canceled due to problems on the pitch.

“So, we hope that everything will be resolved very soon so that we do not suffer more damage and setbacks in the interest of the growth of the game in the country,” the president said.
