Lawal-Doro made the call on Wednesday in Kankia, at the closing ceremony of the Quranic Recitation Competition, Katsina North Senatorial District.
He was represented by the State Coordinator of the Quranic Recitation Competition, Malam Abubakar Abdullahi.
“Allah answers your prayers, whenever you have opportunity like this, you should not forget the situation of insecurity challenge we find ourselves in this state and other parts of the country in general.
“Anytime you read Qur’an, use that opportunity to pray for our country so that Allah will bring an end to such problems,” he said.
He also urged them to act in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qur’an in all their affairs.
The coordinator said that the competition had seven categories, with memorisation of the complete Quran with Tafseer as the first category.
He noted that those who emerged first, second and third positions in each category would participate at the state level of the competition.
According to him, those who will represent the state at the National Quranic Recitation Competition will emerge.
He further revealed that the competition at the national level would hold before the end of the year.
During the competition, Adam Hamisu from Daura Local Government emerged first position on recitation of the whole Qur’an with Tafseer, while Hafsat Yusuf from Kusada won first position from female category.
Also, the Chairman, Kankia Local Government, Alhaji Musa Maikudi, thanked the organisers for the successful conduct of the competition.
Represented by the Supervisory Counsellor, Education, Malam Lawal Nasiru-Malwa, he gave assurance that his administration would continue to support the competition, to enable youths to embrace the habit of reading Qur’an.
He noted that it would prevent them from indulging in social vices.
