COEASU honours Provost with excellent performance award



The College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU),  Federal College of Education (FCE) Kontagora, Niger has honoured Prof. Faruk Haruna, Provost of the institution  for excellent performance.

COEASU chairman of the institution, Mr Usman Sonfada, presented the award to the recipient at the college in Kontagora on Sunday.

Sonfada said that Haruna was honoured with award of excellence in human capital and infrastructural development based on his exploit in that direction.

According to him, within two years in office the Provost brought positive changes to FCE Kontagora by building infrastructures and in re-training of staff.

“Since the Provost came we have not embarked on strike due to the cordial relationship between the management and other staff,”he said.

Dr Abdulsalam Omeiza, Chairman of the occasion lauded Haruna for establishing many infrastructural facilities thereby providing the enabling environment for teaching and learning.

Omeiza also commended the Provost for ensuring industrial harmony among staff.

Mr Ahmed Usman, former undergraduate president of Students Union Government (SUG) of the college, said the Provost deserved the award as he had within two years improved academic standards at the college.

“The Provost has listening ears and always carry the students along, hence the cordial relationship between the management and students body,” he said.

Responding, Haruna said that the award would improve his self confidence which comes with a high sense of responsibility to execute more work in future.

“The reward of hard work is more hard work. My mission is to make this college the best college of education in Nigeria.

“My mission is to achieve, promote and sustain exceptional academic, administrative and welfare standards for the college,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 10 infrastructural projects worth over N1 billion were completed by the Provost recently and waiting to be inaugurated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.
