Cody Rhodes Discusses Putting Over Younger Talents in AEW
Rhodes didn’t always want to play the coach
Cody Rhodes talked about his time in AEW, and how he regularly put over younger talents while wrestling there. The American Nightmare recently spoke with Bleacher Report about this topic, where the former three-time TNT Champion admitted that he didn’t want to always play the coach, and wanted to be a player himself.
Early AEW days were challenging
During the early AEW days, Rhodes highlighted that there was a challenge in figuring out how to keep producing a TV show when half your colleagues are on the West Coast. He also shared that during that time, amidst the pandemic, he didn’t sleep and had to work continuously.
Putting others before himself
Rhodes mentioned that he was letting some of the younger talents beat him long before they should have, as he wanted them to succeed. He emphasized that it wasn’t time for him to be a coach, but to be a player instead.
Upcoming WrestleMania 39 showdown
In the interview, Rhodes also discussed his future plans and teased his upcoming showdown with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.
