The Abuja Rotary Club, Gwarinpa, says it will develop an awareness program on how to discourage students from harassing attitudes .

At a one-day peacebuilding and conflict prevention seminar for students at Gwarinpa Estate High School, FCT, the club said advocacy will be imbued with good morals and values ​​in the community. student life. a

The seminar titled: “Catching the Youth” was organized by the Abuja Rotary Club, Gwarinpa and the Abuja Gwarinpa Newage Rotary Club for students of Gwarinpa Estate Junior High School from JSS 1 to JSS 3.

Abuja Rotary Club President Gwarinpa Constance Okeke said the seminar was organized to instill values ​​in the lives of the students.

“This event falls within one of Rotary International’s areas of focus, which is to promote peacebuilding and conflict prevention.

“Thus, we underline the importance of peace and a harmonious life among the leaders of tomorrow,” she said.

Guest speaker Olajumoke Ekeinde added that the club would continue to promote peace in schools by encouraging an “anti-bullying policy”.

Ekeinde, who is also the club’s deputy district 9125 governor, noted that educating students from an early age would allow peaceful coexistence in the country.

“We educate students to avoid committing acts of violence of any kind inside and outside school premises and we want them to learn to apologize if necessary.

“Students are encouraged to report to their teachers or to higher authority when they are being bullied instead of taking matters into their own hands,” she said.

Hajiya Zainab Hassan, the school principal, appreciated the clubs for organizing the seminar and ensuring the well-being of the students.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that the event also featured a joint presentation of scholarships to 25 students sponsored by the two clubs and the deputy governor of District 9125.
