Club hands over Neonatal Building equipment to Ifako Ijaiye Gen. Hospital

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi has described Rotary International as a formidable partner with the Lagos State government in providing health care services.

Abayomi who was represented by Dr. Ibrahim Mustapha at the commissioning of equipping of the Neonatal Building donated by Rotary Club of Omole Golden to Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital at a cost of $77,700 as well as the handing over ceremony at the event that took place within the premises of the hospital, remarked that many hospitals in the State have benefitted from the magnanimity of Rotary International.

The cost of putting up the building alone was put at N22 million.

“This project, which is not the first and would not be the last, is addressing the very vital part of the national discourse in the area of health care services.
Rotary Club of Omole-Golden
“If we have a structure like this that is built to minimize or reduce neonates mortality, no doubt, kudos should be given to the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden as well as Rotary Club of Crafton Ingram that are behind this gesture.
Rotary Club of Omole Golden
The President, Rotary Club of Omole Golden, Rotarian Ganiu Lawal premised the project on the club’s vision and deep commitment to saving babies and making mothers happy by witnessing their babies growth.
He described the project as the conclusion of over 5 years strategic focus, implementation and delivery of an impactful, befitting and sustainable service project aimed at addressing a disturbing trend in the community.
Rotarian Hajiya Ibironke
He noted that the project which commenced during the tenure of Rotarian Hajiya Ibironke Ogun was also nurtured by subsequent Presidents such as Babajinmi Ajibola, Alhaji Hassan Ogwu, Favour Madu as he commended the Chair, Global Grant/Project Coordinator, Rotarian Amen Agbonifo for her tenacity and commitment in nurturing the relationship between the club and Rotary Foundation to fruition.
Past District Governors
He also appreciated Past District Governors such as Kola Sodipo, Deinde Shoga, Wale Ogunbadejo, Remi Bello for their contributions.
Global Grant
Agbonifo said funding the equipment was at the instance of Global Grant with partners such as Rotary Club of Crafton Ingram contributed over 85% of the total fund and sought for additional three partners.
Radiant Warmer Machines
She named some of the equipment to include phototherapy lights LED, Incubators, Radiant Warmer Machines, CAPAP Machines, Infusion Pumps among others, adding that training were also carried out for expectant mothers among others.
District Governor
The District Governor, Rotary International, District 9110, (Lagos and Ogun States), Rotarian Omotunde Lawson said the project was an evidence of promise fulfilled as she thanked the various donours that made the project a reality.
Chief Medical Director
Chief Medical Director, Ifako-Ijaiye General Hospital, Dr. Bamidele Mustapha said the hospital would make judicious use of the equipment.
Lagos State
First lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu was represented at the event by Lagos State, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Zeinab Oluwatoyin Oke-Osanyintolu.
