Abuja, Feb. 15, 2019 (NNN) The police on Friday arraigned one Ndagi Gana in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly giving false information.
Gana, 55, a staff of Army Day Secondary School, Abuja, is standing trial before Chief Magistrate Ahmad Ndagiwo on a one-count charge to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, G.J Ayannah, told the court that the case was reported in 2018 by the complainant, Abdulaziz Buhari, to the IGP Intelligence Response Team in Abuja.
He said that the defendant had claimed to be the brother of one Yinka Bello who was under police investigation.
Ayannah said that Bello was released on bail bond to Gana in the sum of N500,000.
He, however, said that all efforts by Gana to produce Bello in court had proved abortive.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 167 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, however, granted bail in the sum of N500,000 to Gana in addition to one surety who must live within the court’s jurisdiction and have a known address.
The case was adjourned till March 7 for hearing.(NNN)
