Mr. Danladi Chiya, outgoing President of the Kwali Regional Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), was declared the winner of the primary elections for President of the Congress of All Progressives (APC) in the region.
Election committee chairwoman Ekaeret Ekpenyong announced that delegates in Kwali have endorsed Chiya as the consensus candidate, along with all sitting advisers in the 10 constituencies.
She said the vote had to meet constitutional requirements, as candidates would fly the party flag in the regional council presidential elections in February 2022.
In her reaction, Chiya expressed her gratitude to the delegates and promised not to betray the trust placed in her, but to consolidate her achievements.
Meanwhile, the primary elections for the CPA presidency at the Gwagwalada Regional Council were inconclusive due to the violence unleashed by some unidentified political thugs who disrupted the process as the vote did not go through. favor of their candidate.
The thugs, allegedly supporters of a former council chairman, who is also an aspirant, came to the scene after votes were concluded in seven constituencies and disrupted the process.
Some candidates were hastily escorted off the site by security guards as election officials, journalists, delegates and party supporters ran for safety. (NOPE)
