– The Government of Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Chinese government and Chinese companies, implemented the country‘s ICT (Information and Communication Technology) project which brought thousands of government offices across the country into national connectivity.
The closing ceremony of the project “National ICT Infrared Development for the Government of Bangladesh Phase-III (Info-Sarker Phase-3)” was held in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was the main guest of the program chaired by the Minister of State for ICT Division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming, Principal Secretary of Bangladesh ICT Division NM Zeaul Alam PAA and Director General (Secretary) of the Public Private Partnerships Authority (PPPA) of the Prime Minister’s Office, Md Mushfiqur Rahman, were present as special guests on the show.
This project began in 2017 with the objective of providing high-speed internet services to marginal rural localities (unions) in the country.
The project, jointly funded by the Chinese and Bangladeshi governments, provides high-speed broadband Internet connectivity to 2,600 unions in the country.
Through the project, Palak said they can really provide all the necessary modern services to the citizens.
“We are really grateful to Huawei and CRIG for their continued support in building digital Bangladesh,” he said.
Speaking as the main guest, Foreign Minister Momen said that Info-Sarker Phase-3 is one of the important projects that has played a significant role in building digital Bangladesh.
He said: “To achieve this great infrastructure project, our friendly country China helped us immensely. We are grateful to them.”
Li Jiming said that successful cooperation in the field of ICT infrastructure between China and Bangladesh helps the “Digital Silk Road” and “Digital Bangladesh” to further integrate and will benefit the people of the two countries.
China, as a faithful friend and reliable strategic partner, has always stood firm with Bangladesh, exploring more opportunities for cooperation in high-end industries and realizing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries, Li said.
Info-Sarker Phase-3 Project is one of the high-quality BRI cooperation between China and Bangladesh, which focuses on realizing “Digital Bangladesh” and is a priority project between the two countries. ■
