Chelsea go fight Premier League champions Liverpool for top five position

LONDON, England – With only four matches left for the 2024-2025 Premier League season, competitive tension remains high as teams vie for the crucial European qualification spots. Liverpool has already secured their title, while Arsenal looks to join them, but the battle for the remaining top-five places is far from over.

As we head into Gameweek 35, Manchester City is in a strong position to clinch Champions League qualification. They face Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are currently the league’s strongest team, riding a six-match winning streak. City has been on a roll themselves, recently moving up to third place in the standings. “We know it won’t be easy against Wolves, but we are in confident spirits and ready for the challenge,” a City spokesperson shared.

In another clash, Arsenal will host Bournemouth, as the Gunners aim to maintain their position amidst pressure from other teams. Arsenal has drawn three of their last four league games, and manager Mikel Arteta might rotate the squad in light of Wednesday’s Champions League semifinal.

Aston Villa is also under pressure, aiming to return to the Champions League after a tough period that included a humiliating defeat to Manchester City and an FA Cup semifinal loss against Crystal Palace. They must secure a win against Fulham in the early kick-off to bolster their chances for European football next season.

The already relegated trio of Ipswich Town, Leicester City, and Southampton will also be fighting for pride this weekend. Ipswich Town will visit Everton while Leicester City will host Southampton.

In the marquee matchup of the weekend, Liverpool will make their first appearance as champions against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea is competing for a top-five finish and will be keen to capitalize on any slip-ups from Liverpool. “They may be champions, but we have to show our strength and go for the win,” Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, stated. The match will be crucial for Chelsea as they seek to secure their Champions League position.

As for Liverpool, they are keen to finish the season strong and add to their impressive record. Mohamed Salah is chasing records and will continue to play a crucial role in their attack. “We’re not taking our foot off the gas. Every point matters as we push to reach the 90-point mark this season,” a Liverpool representative mentioned.

The weekend will also see fixtures between Manchester United and Brentford and Brighton going up against Newcastle United. Both matches are critical for the teams involved, with United aiming for Europa League salvation while Brighton seeks Champions League qualification.

Finally, Crystal Palace will face Nottingham Forest in their first match since reaching the FA Cup final. The Forest need a strong finish to their campaign to secure a top-five spot as well.
