Harare, Zimbabwe – Make una gather around! The second edition of the CAF Under-17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) go begin for Harare, from December 8 to 18, 2025. Dis tournament no be small matter o, as eight top clubs and academies from Southern Africa go dey jostle for di crown. Big wahala dey come as dem prepare to show wetin dem sabi for pitch!
Di first edition wey happen for January 2025 for Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, na JKT Queens wey carry di trophy after dem beat TDS Girls 2-1. Dis time, di organizers don bring eight teams from six COSAFA nations come together. Na who go take di shine this year?
Mpopoma Sports Academy (MPOSA), di host team from Zimbabwe, dey ready to represent dem selves well. Dem dey play for di Zimbabwe Women’s Premier Soccer League, so if dem fit carry di energy enter di tournament, dem fit shock everybody!
South Africa no dey sleep, as dem don send two top teams: Mamelodi Sundowns and Refilwe FC. Na dem go try carry di trophy home too.
Na Namibia go no gree carry last, as dem don send two teams join body – Otjiwarongo Sports Academy and Okakarara Golden Ladies FC. Make we no forget Zambia wey go show face with Aguilla Girls FC, while Luwinga Academy from Malawi dey ready to give people thick competition. Lesotho dey represent too with Lishoeshoe team.
Dis tournament dey bring together young girls wey wan show dem skills and also gree dem compete with di best, as CAF dey push hard to grow women’s football.
Di draw for di pool phase go happen for COSAFA House for Johannesburg on Friday by 10h00 CAT. Expect plenty excitement and some gentle rivalry as dem dey prepare for di big kicks!
Meskerem Tadesse Goshime, Head of Women’s Football for CAF, talk say, ‘Dis CAF GIFT U17 tournament na important way to give girls wey dey under 17 chance to play di ball properly, make dem no dey shy from plenty competition.’
