Burnley boss Vincent Kompany makes five changes for Sunderland clash
Changes ahead of Championship match after defeat to Manchester City
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has decided to make five changes to his team for their game against Sunderland tonight. The match will be played at home as the Championship resumes following the international break. The Clarets will want to move closer to securing promotion back to the Premier League with a victory.
Burnley comfortably ahead on the table
Burnley is currently 13 points clear at the top of the Championship table and 16 points ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough. Sunderland is seven points from the playoffs with the game against Burnley.
Changes after a 6-0 defeat to Manchester City
During Burnley’s last match, they lost 6-0 against the champions Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinals before the international break. Kompany has opted to make five changes from that team.
Changes to the starting lineup
In the new lineup, Aro Muric takes the goalkeeper’s spot over Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The back four line-up consists of Connor Roberts, Jordan Beyer, returning Taylor Harwood-Bellis, and Ian Maatsen. Josh Cullen and Josh Brownhill are linked together in central midfield. Ashley Barnes is back to lead the team, with Nathan Tella, Manuel Benson, and Anass Zaroury as the trio behind him.
