For one recent interview wey fly out of the blues, the artist wey dem call Damini Ogulu, talk sey im start life as a Christian because na wetin im parents believe. But as e grow, e come decide sey e want to try Islam. Na beta journey na him dey waka, but as e dey waka, na even more questions dey show face.
“Of course, na because na wetin your parents believe and na wetin you born into. As I dey grow, I be Christian, then I convert to Islam. E be like say I don research everything, but I still dey find out wetin dey really happen,” Burna Boy talk, laughing like say e don drink too much palm wine. (Dude just dey try make sense of everything!)
Dis music king no just stop there, o! E come dey read plenty religious books, but weirdly, e no dey get any clearer understanding. “The more I research, the more confused I dey get,” na wetin im talk. E dey reason religion as big control mechanism wey fit mek person lose connection with di spiritual side. Wahala no dey finish for this guy, oh!
As e talk, Burna Boy no shy. “Religion na bullshit. E be like instruments wey people dey use to control others. I believe sey we get higher power, because we be creations and we must get creator,” e don declare with confidence. Na so my guy dey shake table for music industry and spiritual matters at once!
When e dey pray, e dey feel sey e dey connect, but e self dey wonder who dey hear am. “When I close my eyes while praying, I feel like my prayer dey reach. I no sabi by whom, but I dey feel blessed,” e yan. Hmm, e really dey try manage im spiritual side, but e wan make sure sey na personal experience e dey follow, not wetin dem tell am.
No forget sey Burna Boy still dey hail late music legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, call am di only musician wey fit match am. “He be di king. E na di only one wey greater than me,” na di confession wey e drop while him dey groove to Fela’s ‘Coffin for Head of State’. Talk about respect for the great minds!

This film don take over across Nigeria, Benin, and Côte d’Ivoire, and it don already grab international notice before it land for Naija soil.
