Theater of dreams don land for Burkina Faso as dem plan to start teach English for primary schools. Just like magic, Dr. Marcel Guigma, wey be the big man for education matters, don drop this gist on November 13, 2025. E talk say dem wan prepare our pikin for global market, where English dey reign supreme (no be small).
Why dem dey do this? Simple! Dem wan fit equip our children with language wey go help dem enter the bigger world. According to Dr. Guigma, “Na to give dem competitive edge for future jobs, join become part of international community”. E mean say, we no fit just dey enjoy our local languages alone, we need to sabi English as well (chai, pikin wey sabi three languages fit run the world!).
The magic go start from primary one (CE1), wey go ensure say small small, dem go fit catch the English vibe gradually. No grammar wahala, not just basic comprehension and speaking skills dem dey focus on.
But hold on, e get as e be. Even though dis plan dey shine like new pin, dem no even carry out any thorough research before dem jump inside. E be like say na common sense dem dey use, since everybody sabi say small pikin fit absorb language like sponge. (You fit carry any local language, dem go catch am quick quick). Dem don already pilot this program in 848 schools for 2024-2025, and the feedback don dey positive. Na so dem dey feel the English fever for the education space.
For 2025-2026, dem still dey carry on with the pilot program. Schools wey no follow for CE2 go still use CE1 program, ensure say no child left behind o (we no go let our pikin miss road!).
But, how dem go take make sure say teachers no dey waka about like lost sheep? Dr. Guigma don talk say dem go produce video capsules, guides, and teacher materials to support dem. E be like say dem even plan to get ongoing training programs, so teachers go sabi well well (after all, if teachers no sabi, how pikin go sabi?).
We still need ask, how dem go take ensure say every school, whether urban or rural, go get equal chance? Dem don vow to keep equity as top priority. Even if urban schools get plenty resources, the government dey make effort to balance am, so that every pikin fit get the same English opportunity.
For conclusion, one thing wey Dr. Guigma talk wey make sense be say, na teamwork we need for this matter. Media dey play big role, make we keep shining light on this education matter (na so we go fit take shine our eyes). Let’s support this journey to enlightenment, the future dey bright for our children!
