Di minister of Territorial Administration, Emile Zerbo, na him announce this one, dem dey claim say di commission don taya to dey collect money without any serious reason. E say dem dey spend almost half a billion CFA francs (about €750,000) every year just to maintain di commission wey no dey even fit organize elections well. Na wa o! (Sometimes, I wonder wetin dem dey do with all that money.)
Di commission wey sabi as CENI don dey organize elections dem for over twenty years now. But e no come dey fit do am again since di military jacked power for September 2022, after di second coup in just eight months. Di elections wey suppose take place for July 2024 don shelve as di junta don extend di transition by five years. Because we know say dem no wan lose power, right?
As dem dismiss di commission, dem go transfer di responsibility wey dem suppose carry from CENI go di Ministry of Territorial Administration. Na so dem go fit control di election process directly. Di CENI wey dey composed of fifteen commissioners wey sabi politics and civil society, don provide oversight for elections since Burkina Faso return to multiparty system in 1991. Di last elections during dis period na when dem take elect for 2024, but now everywhere don scatter since di military still dey find how dem go manage di insecurity wey don kill plenty people.
