Buhari, Tinubu, Dangote, others perform Lesser Hajj

President Muhammadu Buhari successfully performed Umrah (Little Hajj) at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, alongside Communications Minister Isa Pantami and business tycoons Aliko Dangote, Wale Tinubu and Abdulsamad Rabiu.

Umrah is a religious ritual of great importance performed by the Muslim Ummah for the love of Allah. It is believed that all requests made while performing the deed are answered by Allah.

The president was also joined in Umrah by his aides, including the president’s senior special assistant for media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, the head of state for protocol, Amb. Lawal Kazaure; the president’s personal physician, Dr Suhayb Rafindadi, and the head of security, Idris Ahmed.

The religious ritual was successfully completed by the president and members of his entourage at the Holy Kaaba on Thursday at around 3:20 a.m. local time.

President Buhari, who was in Saudi Arabia for the fifth edition of the Future Investment Initiative Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, made a brief stopover in Medina for intense prayers for the return of peace and security in Nigeria, and for the recovery of the economy battered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Similar prayers were offered by the president and members of his entourage at the Holy Mosque in Mecca, while performing the rituals of Umrah.
