This is contained in a statement issued by his media assistant, Garba Shehu, on Friday in Abuja.
According to the president, the death of 95-year-old Adnan, one of the longest-serving king-makers in the history of the Emirate of Kano, represents the downfall of a colossus with a remarkable record of service.
“The Sarkin Bai Kano was an immense historical figure who held a prominent place in our political and cultural affairs.
“Adnan’s track record of serving the Emirate of Kano for 63 years and as Head Whip in the First Republic parliament qualifies him to be one of our most important historical players and actors in the evolution of Nigeria.
“He participated not only in the selection of five emirs in the emirate of Kano, but he will also be remembered for his contributions to the development of our democracy.
“I am proud to say, without fear of contradicting myself, that Adnan belongs to the golden age of our democracy, when the main motivation of politicians was disinterested public service rather than the desire to accumulate wealth,” he remarked.
