Social critic and philosophy professor Prutus Uzomah called on Thursday for Nigerians to ensure they seize the opportunity of the 2023 general election to “take back their country” from institutionalized corruption and bad governance.
Uzomah asked Nigerians to make sure they vote for the right person as president, who would think through the modalities of repaying the loans.
He said that Peter Obi of the Labor Party had the qualities to reorganize the country.
The don said he feared that the Westerners, who he claimed had recolonized Africa, might sabotage Obi’s ambition.
He said: “The times we find ourselves in now are pivotal in Nigerian history. This period has become epic. Nigerians have been in a cave for a long time. It is caused by global politics.
“The West has colonized us for a long period of time. Now they have recolonized Africa. Nigeria is not yet an industrialized nation. There is an institutional slavery in Nigeria caused by the West. The West does not want Africa to grow. They want to keep improving Africa more and more.
“They put leaders who want to govern us here in Africa. They have put Nigeria in a state of socio-economic quagmire. The West gives loans to Africa to improve Africa further.
“Peter Obi is seen today as Moses. He is the Messiah, but I am afraid that the West may oppose the Obident movement. But there is time for everything. This is the time to liberate Nigeria. There is no question of ethnicity or religious background, but the qualities of the candidates in the race should be considered.
“We have three main candidates. One is seen as a Messiah. Among the three Nigerians you must choose wisely. A man who has played a role in improvisation will make sure nothing works if he is elected president.
“We have tried Atiku, Tinubu and Obi, so Nigerians should vote for the best. Obi’s popularity proves that he is the best. It is not because he is igbo but because of his ability. Obi has a wider reception. I feel that this is the time for Nigerians to recover from institutionalized corruption. Obi has the magic wand to reorganize Nigeria. My fear remains that the West will ensure that Africa does not recover from the political wages.
“The West will thwart the Obident movement. They may not allow it. Nigeria has won the global political skirmishes and now is the time to say no to Western political slavery in Nigeria. INEC must insist on free and fair elections.
“Economic power is the basis of political freedom. Nigeria needs to free itself from the global political salary by electing a leader like Obi as the next president. Obi’s plan to move Nigeria from consumption to production is excellent. You cannot talk about production without industrialization.
“Buhari has mortgaged the future of Nigerians. The next president must work out modalities to pay the money we owe to foreign nations.
“Peter Obi is my personal candidate. We have had leaders who did not convince us of his ideologies. I have enough education to know the difference between good and evil. Let’s drift and change things. It is time to liberate Nigeria regardless of political party affiliation.”
