Bello showcases Niger at Africa trade, business reunion in London

By Ismail Abdulaziz Parliamentarians from the United Kingdom and business investors from African states converged on the House of Commons in Westminster, London, to launch the UNLOCK AFRICA project.

Governor Abubakar Bello of Niger, alongside other speakers, who described the project as the best way forward for Nigeria‘s development, welcomed the initiative.

In a statement by Mary Noel-Berje, his spokesperson, the governor welcomed the resumption of trade and trade relations between the United Kingdom and Africa.

He recalled that the gradual disappearance of British investments in Africa has forced the continent to look elsewhere, particularly towards Asians, for opportunities for trade and investment and for partnership.

“But I am glad that the Unlock Africa Summit provided leeway to reverse the trend. Hopefully, relations between the UK, Niger State, Nigeria and Africa as a whole will improve and strengthen in the years to come, ”he said.

Bello said doing business with UK companies gives more confidence and security due to its strong legal and legal system as well as fairness and fairness in financial transactions.

“I am delighted to be here, I am excited about the historic turn of events. I see great potentials, great opportunities and look forward to better, strong and mutually beneficial business and investment cooperation, ”he added.

Earlier, Africa House London Chairman Andrew Boff explained that there are multinational companies involved in the UK-Africa trade space.

He added that the project would create direct trade for the sustainable development of wealth between the UK and African countries.

One of the guest speakers and sponsor / host of the event, Sir Duncan Smith (MP), said the forum would allow UK and African businesses to trade more effectively with each other.

He said he would also provide dedicated support, information and resources to facilitate access to trading partners and mitigate potential business risks.

Other speakers, including Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Paul Scully (MP) and Akinsowon Dawodu, Citi Bank MD and group leaders from sub-Saharan Africa, welcomed the UK government’s initiative.

They said the initiative had the potential to turn around in the investment campaign with Africa as the lead partner, noting that great results would be achieved in AU states.
