Banditry: the police thwart the attack, save 8 victims in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command said it had foiled a bandit attack on the village of Kabobi, in the local government area of ​​Batsari, in the state.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP Gambo Isah disclosed in a statement released in Katsina on Friday.

He declared: “On Friday July 23, 2021, around 2:30 pm, numerous bandits, on motorcycles, armed with AK 47 rifles, blocked the Jibia-Batsari road, exactly in the village of Kabobi, Batsari LGA.

“The thugs attacked and kidnapped all the occupants of a motor vehicle, Volkswagen Passat Wagon, and took them to the forest.

“Upon receipt of the report, DPO Batsari led Operation Puff Adder and ‘Sharan Daji’ teams to the region and engaged them in a gun duel and managed to rescue eight of the victims.

“The people rescued include a 70-year-old man, a 13-year-old girl, three 12-year-old girls, all from Garin Inu village, Batsari LGA from Katsina state.

“Another 20-year-old girl and her two children, all from the Turaku neighborhood in the Batsari LGA of Katsina State,” Isah confirmed.

He explained that search teams are still sweeping the area in an attempt to stop the fleeing bandits and rescue the three remaining missing while the investigation is ongoing. (NAN) ()
