As part of efforts to prevent corps members from falling as victims of bandits and other risks on highways, the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC) has warned corps members deployed to Kaduna State to avoid unnecessary traveling out of the state.
The state’s coordinator, Mr Odoba Abel Oche, gave the warning during the closing ceremony of Batch C Stream 1 Orientation closing ceremony, where he strongly advised the corp memebers to desist from engaging in acts capable of denting the image of the NYSC.
He warned that corps members “must not travel outside Kaduna State without permission from the NYSC management.
The idea is to discourage you as much as we can from exposing yourselves to the dangers of our roads.
In his remarks, the state’s governor, Nasir Elrufai urged the corps members to freely intergrate with members of the host communities of their primary assignment, informing them to “learn their culture and actively participate in their developmental efforts through initiating and executing viable Community Development projects and join hands with the government to ensure a violence-free and peaceful society.
Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Muhammad Baba at the closing ceremony, the governor noted that the nation places high expectation on the corps members and I pray you will not let her down.
The governor however called on corps employers in the state to pay necessary attention to the welfare of corps members.
