Attn: Bashir Mani=Stakeholders to examine crucial role of STI in grassroots development
Relevant stakeholders in the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) sector, will examine the critical roles STI can play to bring about development at the grassroots.
This is contained in a statement issued by Isaac Oluyi, Public Relations Officer(PRO), of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) in Abuja on Saturday.
Oluyi said the STI stakeholders will meet in a workshop organised by NACETEM, an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).
The workshop which will hold from Nov. 17 and 18, at NACETEM headquarters in Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has the theme: ‘Science, Technology and Innovation Management Forum’.
The workshop is designed to provide a platform for STI technocrats to brainstorm on topical issues in the STI space for sustainable development at the grassroots, among others.
Oluyi said that grassroots development was one process by which disadvantaged people organise themselves to improve the social, cultural and economic well-being of their families and
communities
He said that for long, grassroots development was not given the attention it deserved and even when being considered, STI was hardly deployed and this slowed the pace of development.
“It needs to be stressed that STI holds the key to the progress and development of any nation.
“It also plays a fundamental role in wealth creation, improvement of the quality of life and real economic growth and transformation, ” the statement read.
