Association donates PPE worth N5.5m to its members
NNN: Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Maritime branch, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth N5.5 million to members.

The General Secretary, Mr Akinola Bodunde, disclosed this while distributing the materials on Wednesday in Lagos.

He pointed out that this was the second phase of the association’s distribution of PPE, which started last week with the Eastern ports: Warri, Port Harcourt, Calabar and Onne.

He listed the materials as 100 cartons of hand sanitiser, 30 cartons of vitamin C that contains 96 tablets each and 3,000 nose masks all worth N5.5 million.
According to him, the donation has the backing of the president of the association, Mr Abubakar Abdullahi, who was unavoidably absent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As a union, we have people that we represent and they pay dues and this is the only way we can give back to them and ensure that they are protected during this COVID-19 pandemic.
“The union partnered with the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to cushion further spread of COVID-19 at the ports,” he said.
Bodunde added that they also extended the distribution of the materials to non-contributors.
NAN reports that in the first phase, which took place in the month of April, the association donated N4m to all the ports in Lagos and Eastern ports.
Present at the distribution of the materials are Mr Fredrick Ochonogor, Lagos Area Coordinator; Mr Joseph Obieme, First Trustee; Mrs Elizabeth David, Ex Officio member and Mr Peter Kalio-Mordecai, 2nd Vice President.
