Assassin’s Creed Mirage Won’t Be Released on Steam, Disappointing PC Fans
Assassin’s Creed Mirage, one of the most anticipated Ubisoft games for 2023, will not be released on Steam, according to a recent announcement. This comes as disappointing news for fans of the franchise who play on PC and rely solely on Steam.
The game promises to return the franchise to its original roots, focusing primarily on stealth and parkour. Being set in Baghdad with the assassin Basim as the protagonist, it appeals to the fans of the original Assassin’s Creed style of gameplay. However, PC players who only use Steam won’t be able to play Assassin’s Creed Mirage at launch. It will be available on the Epic Games Store and the official Ubisoft Store. Ubisoft hasn’t clarified whether the title will be seen on Steam at a later date or not.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage follows a disappointing year for Ubisoft, which reported an 18% drop in revenue compared to the previous fiscal year. The release of the title coincides with a crucial moment for the company, as it could be a significant event that generates revenue.
A recent new trailer of Assassin’s Creed Mirage showed fast-paced action and several stealth segments in the Middle-Eastern city of Baghdad. While it embraces the original feels of the franchise, it remains to be seen whether it can cater to both traditional fans and the new crowd who only played the later games and expect a vast world filled with activities.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches worldwide on October 12 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
