Arsenal aiming to bounce back after Europa League exit

It looks like Arsenal will be gunning down all their machinery towards the Premier League after their shocking exit from UEFA Europa League in the midweek. Sporting CP got the better of the Londoners in the tiebreak by 5-3 after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline at the end of two legs. Although Arteta’s men have been phenomenal in the league, there is that air of uncertainty that things might go downhill as Manchester City have been chasing them down relentlessly. But as they welcome Crystal Palace, the Gunners can take pride in the fact that they have won eight of their nine London derbies in the Premier League this season (D1).

Crystal Palace in desperate need of points

Crystal Palace on the other hand have had a woeful few weeks and are now involved in the relegation battle against all their ambitions. Although they sit at 12th in the table, they are just 3 points away from the dreaded relegation zone. Three consecutive solitary goal losses against Brighton, Manchester City and Aston Villa have handed them concerns regarding their status in the Premier League. But Crystal Palace have avoided defeat against Arsenal in each of their last four Premier League away meetings, with each of the last three ending level (W1).

Key Players: Martinelli and Zaha

A dynamic and explosive wide forward known for his agile movement, Martinelli can dribble past multiple opponents to create or score goals. He has 12 goals and 2 assists in his name in the Premier League this season.

Zaha can play as a forward or as a winger, usually on the left where he can cut inside with his right foot. The most important man for The Eagles in their frontline, he has been a loyal servant of the club amidst many offerings around Europe. He has 6 goals and 2 assists in the Premier League this season.

Injury Concerns

Eddie Nketiah will be missing out on this fixture due to an ankle injury as his rehabilitation continues. Takehiro Tomiyasu suffered a knee injury against Sporting CP and will be sidelined for quite a while now. Mohammed Elneny is also on the injury list with a knee injury as his return date is unknown.

Sam Johnstone will be out for Crystal Palace for a couple of weeks with a calf injury. James McArthur and Wil Hughes will not be making the trip to the Emirates most probably due to illness. Vicente Guiata is also a major miss for Patrick Vieira as his return date is unknown after a hamstring strain in his thigh.

Prediction

Despite their recent disappointment in the Europa League, The Gunners are the favourites to win the Premier League this season. Crystal Palace have not been at its best and will certainly need to step up its game if they aim to bring back anything from The Emirates. We are predicting it to be an easy victory for Arsenal but don’t be shocked if things take a turn.

Prediction:  Arsenal 3-1 Crystal Palace.
