Armed Forces Day: Nigerian govt orders closure of roads around Federal Secretariat

The Federal Government ordered the closure of the access roads to Arcade, Phases I, II and III of the Federal Secretariat and Foreign Ministry complexes on Friday in Abuja.

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Federation’s Civil Service, HOCSF, gave the directive in a statement issued Friday in Abuja by Mr. AbudulGaniyu Aminu, Director of Communications, HOCSF office.

The closure, Ms. Yemi-Esan said, is in light of upcoming activities marking the 2022 celebration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day reserved to honor fallen heroes.

“The Head of the Federation Civil Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan is pleased to inform the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) and the general public of the closure of the access roads to Arcade, the Complex of the Federal Secretariat and its surroundings on Friday by notice of 2 pm.

“This is in light of upcoming activities marking the 2022 celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day reserved to honor our fallen heroes.”

The event, he said, involves a wreath-laying ceremony by President Muhammadu Buhari and other senior government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps that will take place on Saturday.

The AFRD is held every January 15 to honor the fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces in various wars and national assignments.
