Since 2007, 16 African journalists have won either an APO Group Media Award or an invitation to an all-expenses-paid international event. Today, APO Group (, the leading pan-African communications consultancy and press release distribution service, celebrates African journalism with the release of a video featuring some of the award winners. ‘APO Group over the past 14 years.

APO Group Media Awards and Event Invitations aim to recognize the achievements of African journalists and create opportunities for them to develop their careers or travel to new places.

Founded by former African journalist and vice-president of the Pan-African Press Association in France (APPA), Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard (, APO Group has a rich history of working alongside African media.

“APO stands for African Press Organization, and when I founded the company it was primarily to provide relevant content to African journalists. As we have grown, the relationships we have established with these journalists have helped our African and multinational clients thrive across the continent and connect with the African audience. Funding rewards and creating unique professional opportunities is our way of giving something back to the African media community which has been so vital to our success, ”said Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard.

The International Event Invitation Prizes are randomly selected from nominations from across Africa – and, as such, they are an inclusive way to provide new opportunities for any journalist on the continent, with winners able to attend. at prestigious industry events such as the Web Summit, the African Development Bank Annual Meeting, Annual Investment Meeting (AIM), Africa Hotel Investment Forum (AHIF), EurAfrican Forum, and more.

Other awards, such as the APO Group African Media Award and the APO Group African Women in Media Award, are awarded by juries, with the winners chosen for excellence in their journalistic field. These awards offer unique prizes, with the winner of the APO Group African Media Award receiving:

$ 500 per month for one year one laptop one intercontinental plane ticket to any destination of one’s choice one year of access to over 600 airport VIP lounges around the world

Second and third place winners receive $ 300 and $ 200 per month, respectively, for a period of one year.

APO Group African Women in Media Award Winner Wins $ 2,500 Cash Prize, All Expense Paid Travel to a prestigious International Women’s Forum, and online courses from one of the world’s most respected universities.

Often, however, the biggest prize is the impact on a winner’s life, with many using the prize as a stepping stone to career progression.
