APC primaries: Late arrival of electoral materials delay election across Lagos

  The APC House of Assembly primaries in Lagos State has been delayed at some venues due to late arrival of electoral materials Some of the venues included Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 Ikorodu Central Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA Somolu Constituency II Agege LGA Surulere Constituency 1 Kosofe Constituency 1 Constituency 1 and II and Mushin Constituency 1 and II among others The News Agency of Nigeria reports that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC were present at all the venues with heavy security presence Security personnel from the Nigeria Police Department of State Security DSS NSCDC Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps LNSC were fully represented NAN reports that at Ikorodu Central the primary election had not started by 4 20 pm when the report was filed The APC Chairman Ikorodu central Mr Waheed Animashaun said the election was on hold because the APC electoral officers to conduct the primaries were also dedicated to conduct similar elections in other places We have also been told that they have not been given materials from the state headquarters because of the ongoing governorship primary election he said APC leaders and delegates could be seen at the venue of the primaries waiting for election materials Also NAN observed that the premises for the election at Amuwo Odofin was calm but party officials and members were nowhere to be seen The electoral officer who refused to disclose his name said they had instructed the delegates aspirants and party members to keep away from the venue to avoid loitering He said they would be alerted once the materials arrived and accreditation would commence thereafter NAN however reports that it was a different story at Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA as correspondents were told that the absence of electoral officers and materials may lead to postponement Even the electoral officers are not on ground so the elections may be shifted to Friday he said NAN reports that as at 5 p m the Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA venue was scanty and most of the delegates had left NAN

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that officials of the Independent  National Electoral Commission  (INEC) were present at all the venues with heavy security presence.

Nigeria Police

Security personnel from the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security (DSS), NSCDC, Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) were fully represented.

Ikorodu Central

NAN reports that at Ikorodu Central, the primary election had not started by 4:20 pm when the report was filed.

APC Chairman

NAN, however,  reports that it was a different story at Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, as correspondents were told that the absence of electoral officers and materials may lead to  postponement.

“Even the electoral officers are not on ground, so the elections may be shifted to Friday, ” he said.

Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA

NAN reports that as at 5 p.m., the Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA venue was scanty and most of the delegates had left.
