APC state congress: Bauchi stakeholders reject Adamu Adamu’s anointed candidate

Stakeholders in the Bauchi State branch of the All Progressives Congress, APC, rejected Education Minister Adamu Adamu’s decision to impose a candidate, Babayo Alim, for the party’s presidency in the State.

But internal feuds in several states, including Kano, threaten party unity ahead of the 2023 general election.

Coming out of a heated meeting on Thursday, stakeholders rejected the minister’s decision, asking him to reverse his decision and allow candidates from the central senatorial zone to stand for election.

“It is necessary that each candidate presents himself on an equal footing to participate in this election, in a spirit of fairness and justice.

“The minister’s action will only create animosity among party members and further weaken the party’s chances of producing the next state governor.”

“We cannot afford to remain silent while these undemocratic practices continue in our party.

“We are committed to producing the next governor of the state of Bauchi and we will achieve our goal only by sticking to universally recognized democratic practices”, underlined one of the speakers who did not want his name to be. noted.

Stakeholders also alleged that federal and state Coral lawmakers were in the process of approving the minister’s preferred choice.

Bauchi was one of the states lost to the APC in the 2019 election due to internal feuds.

In the absence of an APC governor in the state, the minister is considered the party leader to hold the highest government office in the state.
