NWC Should Focus on Moving Forward, Says Anyim

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, has expressed his disappointment over his suspension by the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), saying that they should be ashamed of their role in the party’s failure in the 2023 general elections.

Anyim believes that the NWC should focus on the bigger picture of moving the party forward rather than diverting their attention towards suspending “soft targets.”

Arrogance and Innate Cowardice Displayed by NWC’s Actions

The former Senate President asserted that the NWC’s actions were indicative of arrogance and innate cowardice, rather than a desire to bring the party together. According to Anyim, the NWC needs to undertake a thorough self-examination of why they performed so poorly in the 2023 general elections.

Anyim condemned the NWC’s leadership style, stating that many members, including members of the NWC, worked against the party intentionally and proudly. He also criticized their decision to suspend leaders of the party without fair hearing, describing their actions as null and void.

The Case of Ebonyi State

Anyim went on to illustrate the NWC’s mistakes by pointing to their decision to impose a candidate from the sitting Governor’s zone in Ebonyi State, contrary to the state’s zoning formula. Despite efforts to reason with the NWC, they did not listen, and Anyim boycotted the party’s presidential rally in the state.

However, Anyim expressed his pride in supporting the APC gubernatorial candidate to win the election, as it conformed to the equitable formula in Ebonyi State. Anyim expects the NWC to reverse its decision in the interest of the party.
