Abuja, Nigeria – Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi don drop some serious gist wey make everybody open eye. During him 60th birthday lecture for Abuja, he clear say he don tell President Bola Tinubu since 2023 say e no go support am, no go vote for am, and na capacity wahala make am take dat decision.
As Amaechi dey yan, “I told Tinubu in Yola, I will not support you; I will not work for you. I did not work for him; I did not vote for him. It was the issue of capacity.” (Talk am as e be, no need to sugarcoat.) E no just stop there, the man even point finger say na poor leadership wey dey cause our problem for this Naija, not just di leaders alone.
He go on to say, “Some of us who are here are also those who vote on an ethnic or religious basis. Innocent, uneducated people are manipulated to vote based on ethnicity and religion — that’s why we are here.” Na wa o! E be like say him dey call people out for their ways of voting.
According to Amaechi, “when we leave here, we go to plot to go and grab power; no Nigerian leader cares for you.” (So, make we just dey arrange famine for our pockets abi?) He dey suggest say if opposition gree, dem fit team up to shake Tinubu from presidency. E fit happen, who know?
Amaechi also dey shout say di current government dey use poverty as weapon – “they are weaponising poverty by stealing the money they should have used to build hospitals and schools.” This one dey sound like the usual rant wey people dey hear upandan, but dis time, na Minister wey don see am inside him eyes dey talk.
He dey vex say all di money wey dem don save from fuel subsidy removal dey enter di wrong pocket. “The benefit of the fuel subsidy removal is in their pockets.” Abeg, who go fit explain dis one to dem? E be like sey wahala dey clear for everyone face now.
Dignitaries dey present during Amaechi’s lecture, including nods from people like 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka. Amaechi had to remind dem sey voting with religious and ethnic sentiment na serious issue wey dey hinder Nigeria’s progress.
As he dey wrap up him speech, e encourage Nigerians to see beyond religion and face di real issue – hunger and poverty dey touch all of us, rich or poor, Muslim or Christian. Perhaps, this call for unity and action go make dem shine their eyes well when e come to elections again.
