Amaechi, Lamido Go Chook Mouth Nigerian Politics Matter If Dem Still Dey Govern

Abuja, Nigeria — Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi don talk say if he and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido dey still govern, dem for don challenge President Bola Tinubu on di current wahala wey dey Nigeria. Amaechi drop dis talk on Tuesday during di public presentation of Lamido’s autobiography, ‘Being True to Myself.’

Amaechi, wey also be former Chairman of di Nigeria Governors Forum, explain say dem time as governors dey different. Dem dey always dey bold with di Federal Government, ready to hold dem accountable. “I asked you (Lamido) this morning, wetin dey happen for di country, for Nigerian politics — if wey we dey like dis when we be governors? You talk say no. And di answer na no,” he talk.

He continue, “We for don confront di government, confront di president. Na so radical you be. Na so our Governors Forum dey operate. Na so we dey determine to change things.” Amaechi also talk about im political relationship with Lamido, saying dem dey allies when dem dey serve. But e clarify say dem paths split because of strategy wey dem follow to oppose di then President Goodluck Jonathan.

“We dey good friends for government. We get our bad time when we disagree. I make di mistake to fink sey e go be as radical as I dey. So, na one of di governors wey I hold tight for radical decisions,” Amaechi talk.

“Di last decision wey we agree before we break up na when we all decide to go against President Jonathan. We form committee of governors and others. At di end, he go join new party, di SDP. We talk sey, ‘If we join di SDP, we go lose di election. Make we hold dis one wey dem call di APC.’ He disagree and waka out. Na dey point wey we part ways,” e add.
