Mr. Aliero (APC-Kebbi Central) gave the directive when he was greeted by a crowd in Filin Sukuwa, Birnin Kebbi, saying that “the imposition of leaders in the party is unacceptable.”
The legislator said that those who were replaced in the leadership of the party during the last state congress were unfairly removed for their alleged loyalty to him.
He noted that the change was in complete contrast to the willingness to hold the party congress, so the action remains unacceptable.
Aliero, a former state governor, could not hide his joy at the massive turnout of supporters who greeted him from the airport to Filin Sukuwa, the site of the occasion.
“I have never been greeted with such an overwhelming crowd, even when I was governor of the state,” he said.
Aliero, who is also chairman of the Senate Building Committee, assured his determination to fight for the restoration of fairness and justice at APC in the state, and said that all members are equal.
“We are also ready to give all the necessary support to those who had presented a case in court for violation of their rights as party members.
“I call on all members of our faction to open offices not only at the local government headquarters, but also at the district levels. The time to organize a party with impunity is over. We must challenge any unfair action.
“The disposition for the congress made known by the party was that the existing leadership could only be changed during the congress in case of death and seizure, among other reasons.
“But those who were removed were not affected by any of the stipulated conditions. They were unjustly removed from office and this is what we cannot accept ”, declared Mr. Aliero.
Reacting to the development by phone Monday in Bornon Kebbi, the party’s state chairman Abubakar Kana-Zuru said he was not aware of any factions in the state.
Kana-Zuru added that the congresses were held in accordance with national directives and guidance in the state that produced the current leadership.
