PRISTINA, Albania – Big news for dem people wey dey suffer corruption for Albania! Prime Minister Edi Rama don introduce Diella, wey no be person, but AI bot! Yes, you hear am well. Diella go dey in charge of all public procurement contracts, and her motto na to make sure say everything dey clean and clear. (Na wetin dem call transparency, my paddy).
Edi talk say Diella go fit control tenders without any bribe wahala. If dem like, make dem bring money, she no go take am. This one na first of its kind for any government, and some people dey wonder if na serious thing or just publicity stunt. (After all, AI fit shine pass our local ministers).
Rama wey don enter im fourth term, talk say the aim na to make Albania a place wey public tenders no go get corruption again. You go sabi say corruption for Albania don dey like rain wey no wan stop, so di aim dey high! E explain say Diella go use algorithms wey get no matter for bribery or favoritism, just dey check bids straight up.
Diella don dey work since earlier this year as virtual assistant for e-Albania platform, helping people collect their documents. But now, she don get bigger responsibility. E don help issue 36,600 digital documents already, so she no be small pickin for dis matter.
But e get as e be, e no be everybody dey happy. Some Facebook users don drop comments like “Even Diella go turn corrupt for this country”. Chai! That one na serious talk o! Another one talk say, “Stealing go continue, and Diella go collect the blame”. (You fit reason am, who no like drama?).
Rama’s government need to show how dem go monitor Diella o, because corruption no dey stop just like dat. Some legal experts don already raise their eyebrows and say this whole thing fit dey unconstitutional. E get why? Because for dem constitution, dem ministers suppose be ‘mentally competent’ people wey fit carry the country forward. (So wetin AI dey do for there? Abeg no make us laugh too much).
The new parliament go start work on Friday, but dem never clear if dem go vote on this new cabinet. Diella wey fit be the first AI minister wey dey in charge of something real, fit change how government dey work.
