Al Ahly Keep CAF Champions League Hopes Alive with 4-0 Victory over Coton Sport
Dominant Display After Heavy Defeat
Al Ahly have kept their CAF Champions League hopes alive with a massive 4-0 victory over Coton Sport in Cameroon on Friday afternoon.

Following a heavy defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, Al Ahly knew they must beat Coton Sport in order to have any chance of advancing from their group.

Mahmoud Kahraba Scores a Hattrick
The Reds dominated the game from the get-go and opened the scoring after 23 minutes through Mahmoud Kahraba, who tapped in Afsha’s low cross from close range.

Six minutes later, Kahraba made it 2-0 following a wonderful team play, which ended with Percy Tau squaring the ball to the striker and then into the back of the net.
But that didn’t stop Al Ahly from running riot as Kahraba managed to complete his hattrick in the 51st minute after great play from Percy Tau. Having assisted twice, Tau then capped his performance with a goal just two minutes later, after a great solo run, before beating the keeper with a powerful strike.
Injury to Skipper Doesn’t Stop the Reds
Al Ahly were handed a blow at half-time as skipper and first-choice goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy picked up an injury and was forced off for Ali Lotfi.
Al Ahly had several chances to score more goals, but eased off in the latter stages of the game as Marcel Koller brought on several players in order to rest the team.
Fate Rests on Al Hilal’s Result
The win increased Al Ahly’s tally to seven points from five games and await Al Hilal’s clash with Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday to discover their fate.
Any result other than Al Hilal winning would mean Al Ahly have a chance of reaching the quarter-finals with a win in Cairo against the Sudanese side in the final round.
If Al Hilal manage to win in Sudan, then Al Ahly would be officially knocked out of the competition from the group-stages.
