Ms. Aisha Buhari, President of the African First Ladies Peace Mission (AFLPM) and First Lady of Nigeria, has called for global action to address the negative impact of climate change on women and children in Africa.
He made this appeal in a statement made available to the Nigerian News Agency on Monday in Abuja Media and Advertising Assistant Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi.
According to the statement, it is regrettable that women and children are on the receiving end of the negative impact of climate change in Africa.
The Nigerian President’s wife expressed the need for stakeholders, especially development partners, to mobilize resources to find durable solutions to problems associated with the devastating impact of climate change on women and children.
“The impact of climate change has not only affected development, but also women and children who are always on the receiving end of any type of crisis,” he said.
The first lady also told the meeting that her foundation, the “Aisha Buhari Foundation,” had over the past six years provided support to victims of insurgency and other natural disasters, mostly women and children in Nigeria.
reports that Ms. Buhari spoke when she joined other African First Ladies at the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The event was organized by the first lady, Ms Emine Erdogan, to interact with her African counterpart to provide ways to address the negative impact of climate change on women and children on the continent.
Since then, the first lady has returned to Abuja.
