NEPA, di Nigerian Electricity Power Authority, don receive plenty of complaints from citizens wey talk say dem no fit keep up with unplanned blackouts. According to latest report, Abuja dey experience over 10 hours of blackout daily, as di power supply no dey meet demand.
Young business owner, Chuka Obi, wey get small shop, talk say, “Dis power issue don really affect my sales. How I go run my business without light? E dey hard to survive like dis.”
Another resident, Mary Adeola, wey be student, also share her frustration: “I no fit read my books at night. Na only candle we go dey use because NEPA no dey give us light when we need am.”
As di situation dey worsen, di federal government don promise say dem go invest for better infrastructure to solve di power issues, but many people dey wonder how long e go take before dem fit see changes. Some stakeholders don dey suggest say maybe dem go consider alternative energy sources or make dem privatize di power sector.
“We need plan wey go fit work for us and stop di blame game wey dey happen every time,” John Uwa, a civil rights activist, talk. “Di current power supply na shame, and e don dey affect our quality of life.”
