Abia LGA poll: Commumity calls for equity in Obingwa East constituency



The people of Abala Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia, have called for equity in Agalaba – a popular name for Obingwa East State Constituency.

They urged the Abia Governor, Dr Okezie lkpeazu, to balance Agalaba political equation by display of equity, fairness, and justice being parts of his leadership agenda.

The call is contained in a statement by the President-General of Abala Elites, Mr Chima Nwokonne, to the News Agency of Nigeria in Umuahia on Friday.

The people alleged political marginalisation in ther community, also known as Ward 11,  in spite of their inclination and support during the past and present state government elections.

They appealed to Ikpeazu as the number one leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Obingwa and Abia to ensure that of one their own was elected as Chairman of Obingwa LGA in the Dec. 18, 2020 council election.

“We plead that our amiable Gov. Ikpeazu and PDP  ensure that the umbrella shield accommodates the people of Abala during the forthcoming LGA election,” the statement said.

The people commended lkpeazu on his giant strides on infrastructure, security and promotion of Made-in-Aba goods which had placed millions of talented artisans in Aba in the international business map.

The people also thanked the governor for completion of first phase of Agalaba ring road connecting Ward 11  and the neighboring communities in Obingwa.

They expressed optimism that lkpeazu, being a man of his words, would  definitely complete the second phase of the project once dry season set in considering the economic importance of the road.
