Kano, Nigeria – E be like say drama don start for Kano politics as Abdulmumin Jibrin, wey dey represent Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, don announce say him don waka comot from New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) just few hours after dem burst him bubble say dem don expel him. Na wah!
Jibrin wey align with the faction of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, talk say di surprise wey dem take expel am no dey make sense at all. For im official statement, he yan say the interview wey him grant no suppose attract such “heavy penalty.” (Omo, if na me, I go dey vex too!)
According to Jibrin, e believe say everybody suppose fit talk their mind for party matter. Him accuse NNPP leaders say dem no follow wetin dem dey preach about fair hearing before dem toss am out like dirty rag. “No invitation was extended to me to explain myself,” he lament, as he dey talk say even during military regime, person go get chance to clear im name.
Jibrin talk say if dem send am invoice for the dues wey dem claim say he no pay, him go quickly settle am. “I dey ready to pay if dem present invoice, no need for court matter,” he reason. (See as e dey carry im hand for ground, e dey show maturity!)
He no forget to take aim at NNPP leaders, saying dem no dey appreciate members wey get value. “If you no dey bring anything to table, dem go treat you like nobody,” Jibrin drop am, as e still thank dem for the time wey e don spend with dem.
Dis latest twist come be like movie plot for Kano politics, as e happen at a time wey NNPP dey face serious wahala with internal divisions between Kwankwasiyya and other groups. Jibrin don drop hints before say he fit waka go back to APC, so dis saga fit just be di beginning of a bigger political drama.
As e stand now, Jibrin don call on im supporters make dem join am for im “new journey”, but e still dey open to maintaining peace with those wey choose to remain for NNPP. Meanwhile, wetin go happen next for Nigeria political arena? Time go tell!
